RAMESH AGARWAL
Dear Rotary friends,
Rotary Greetings!
It is my proud privilege to extend my heartfelt compliments to you and all your club members as begin a new Rotary Year 2019-20. I salute all your members who are serving Rotary with great commitment and dedication in the true spirit of Service Above Self. The various projects being undertaken by your clubon health related issues are true testimony to the unwavering commitment of your club members.
I extend my warmest greetingsand best wishes to you on taking over the reins of your esteemed club as the club president during this Rotary Year. The leadership role in Rotary is undoubtedly challenging but rewarding at the end of the day. I am sure you and your team will have a wonderful year ahead and I wish you great success in all your endeavors.
We must know that fulfilling every child's right to water, sanitation and hygiene education remains a major challenge in India in spite of the best efforts by the Union and State governments over the years.Today there are millions of children in our country who have no access to drinking water, sanitation facilities and hygiene education. The sustainable WinS (WASH in Schools) Target Challenge program launched by The Rotary Foundation is intended to improve healthand education of children by creating a cycle of opportunity: improved education, increased school attendance and improved academic performance. This program is in perfect sync with our national mission of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The key feature of this program is to develop children to serve as agents of change for their siblings, their parents and the community at large for healthy hygiene behaviors. As Rotarians, we all have a role in making sure that every child receives the benefits of WASH in Schools. I request you and your club to take up the WinS program as a challenge and work to ensure that children receive its benefits.
As we strive to connect the world and build connections that allow talented, thoughtful and generous Rotarians like us to unite and take meaningful action through Rotary service, let us show our love and empathy to each other and the communities we serve. Let us show our enthusiasm for Rotary. Let us be agents of change and set ourselves the challenge of doing more than ever. Let us lead by example.
As we begin the new Rotary Year, may I urge all your club members to strength en the many ways that Rotary Connects the World and together, make a difference in the world.
